Esther King

RICHFORD - Esther Story (Strait) King, age 93, passed away peacefully early Monday August 27, 2007 surrounded by her loving family at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford where she made her home for the past year.
\tEsther was born October 7, 1913 in Franklin, the youngest of four daughters of the late Reuben R. & Ethel (Story) Strait.
\tEsther grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School in 1929 at the age of 16. Following graduation she attended the St. Albans Hospital School of Nursing. Esther married Lloyd Red King on September 14, 1935. He predeceased her on December 7, 1969.
\tEsther had resided in Richford since 1945 where she and Red ran their family dairy farm. After Reds death she worked at Jay Peak Ski Resort and Richford High School in janitorial services. The RHS class of 1981 dedicated their year book to her in recognition of her years of service. She was also a member of the Richford United Methodist Church.
\tEsther enjoyed knitting, basket making and needlework. Her family and friends are left with the many beautiful treasures she created.
\tShe is survived by 3 daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth & Norman Doe of Berkshire, Nancy & Richard Bouffard of Milton, and Linda & Henry Fil, Jr. of Hadley, MA; She also leaves 10 grandchildren who loved her dearly, Randy Doe and wife Ann, Debra (Doe) Chagnon and husband Alan, Ricky Doe and wife Betty, Terry Doe and wife Diane, Jamey Doe and wife Beverly, Marsha (Doe) Larose and husband Dale, Linda (Bouffard) Lang, Bobbi (Bouffard) Biron and husband Mark, David Bouffard and partner William Bowick, Jennifer (Fil) Hill and husband Daniel; She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; a niece, Marlene (Johnson) Lumbra; a nephew, Dr. Robert Pratt. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Johnson, Gertrude Pratt, Virginia Lothian; and a great granddaughter, Kristen Alison Doe.
\tA memorial service will be held Sunday September 2, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
\tA time of visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 until the hour of the funeral.
