SHELDON - Ethel A. Sweet, age 80, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born on March 30, 1938 in Fairfield to the late Robert & Henrietta (Therrien) Sweet.
Ethel was a life-long resident of the area. She worked as a homemaker for Mary Bashaw at her boarding house from 1959 until 1979. She also worked at Twincraft making soap, and Ames Department Store as a fitting room clerk for several years. Her favorite hobbies included collecting pins and cookbooks, playing cards, completing puzzles & word finds, watching TV, and most importantly, spending time with her family. She was a long-time member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge in St. Albans.
She is survived by her siblings, George Sweet and his wife Linda of LaGrand, OR, Dorothy Draper of St. Albans, and Shirley Burnor and her husband Terrance of Wilberham, MA; sisters-in-law, Carol Sweet of Georgia, and Gloria Sweet of Sheldon and many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her brothers, Gordon, Ronnie, Raymond, Frederick & Robert Sweet.
Ethel was able to stay home for an extended period thanks to the great cares she received from her nieces, Patie-Ann & Melissa; her nephew, Robbie and his wife April; and Franklin County Home Health, especially Lisa Phillips & Sophia Greenia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 5-7:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Marys Catholic Church, Fairfield St., St. Albans. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Village Cemetery.
