FRANKLIN - Etienne Steve Emery Labrie, age 92, passed away Thursday evening February 14, 2008 at Franklin County Rehab in St. Albans.
Steve was born November 21, 1915 in Demar, Kansas the son of the late Pierre & Alexina (Breault) Labrie.
Steve drove truck for McDermotts Trucking and H. K. Webster for many years until he retired in 1980 at the age of 65. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and his grandchildren enjoyed his company and especially his stories.
He is survived by 2 sons, Walter Labrie and his friend Freda Gagnon of Franklin, and John Labrie and his wife Ramona of Fletcher; his grandchildren, Mark Labrie and his wife Bonnie, Tammy Gratton and her husband Randy, Dawn Barone and her husband Robert, Sherri Pierce and her husband Robert, Michael Labrie, and Kurtis Labrie and his wife Melissa; 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; his sisters, Cecile Brier and Albina Bernier both of Waterbury, CT, and Claire Pelkey of St. Albans; sisters-in-law, Polly Labrie of St. Albans, and JoAnne Grondahl and her husband Edward of Fayetteville, NC; many niece and nephews. Besides his parents, Steve was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Elaine (Bates) Labrie on January 3, 2008. They were married February 26, 1938 in St. Marys Catholic Church in Franklin. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Mary, Delina (Sister Joseph), MarieElise, Alcide, Alfred, Eva, Edward, Charles, and Joseph.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Bernard Bechard. In keeping with Steves wishes there will be no visiting hours.
