ST. CLOUD, FL - Eugene B. DeRosia, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 in Florida following a long battle with cancer.
Eugene was born July 24, 1939 in Ticonderoga, NY to the late Albert & Helen DeRosia.
He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1957. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge in 1962. After his service he returned to Vermont and married Sallie Jean Aldrich, the love of his life. Shortly after their wedding they moved up to Bakersfield and opened a AAA service station in Jeffersonville called Madonna Mobil, which they ran from 1969-1989. Sallie passed away suddenly in 1987. After closing the station, Eugene worked several odd jobs before relocating to Florida.
Eugene was a member of several organizations including, the American Legion Post #35 in Cambridge, the Eagles Club, Loyal Order of the Moose and Disabled American Veterans. He was also an ASE Certified Technician.
He leaves behind his children, James DeRosia and his wife Sharron of Bakersfield, Dave DeRosia and his wife Julia of Worcester, VT, Nancy Gene Wilson of Bakersfield; 8 grandchildren, Dominic and his wife Linnea, BJ, Christopher, Jessica, Kyle, Connor, Abigail, Sallie Ann; several great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Arlene of St. Cloud, FL and Gertrude of Jacksonville, FL and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his wife, Sallie DeRosia; his grandson, Samuel John Wilson and several siblings.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield.
