MONTGOMERY CENTER - Eva Cecile (Lortie) Lumbra, age 79, passed away following her battle with cancer Thursday October 28, 2010 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born October 7, 1931 in Berkshire, the daughter of the late Alfred and Rose Alma (Dufresne) Lortie.
She attended school in Montgomery and graduated from Richford High School. She worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut and upon returning to Vermont after several years of being a full time mom became a cook and teachers aide at the Montgomery Elementary School. She retired in 1999.
She was a member of St. Isidores Catholic Church. Her volunteer work included being a religious education teacher for over 40 years, the treasurer of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and a member of the St. Theresas and St. Annes Societies.
She enjoyed her Wednesday card club, spending time with her grandkids, the Boston Red Sox and the Sunday afternoon lunches with her family.
She is survived by her children, Ronnie Lumbra his wife Mitzi and their children Casi & Evan of Rye, NY, Lori Stewart and her husband Ryan and their children Darian & Samantha of Lyndon and Gary Lumbra and his wife Bobbi Jo and their children, Colby Tanner, Isaac, Emily & Natalie of Montgomery Center, a sister-in-law, Lorraine Gillis of Montgomery Center; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, Ronald Lumbra of Montgomery Center on May 13, 2010. Ronald & Eva were married August 8, 1949. She was also predeceased by her two sisters Theresa Lumbra & her husband Roy and Mary Bonnett & her husband Edward.
Funeral services will be held Saturday November 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Isidores Catholic Church, Mountain Road, Montgomery Center with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. Isidores Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave, Enosburg Falls.
