Evangeline K. Salisbury

September 8, 1938 — September 24, 2019

ALEXANDRIA, VA - Evangeline Salisbury, 81, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on the evening of September 24th, 2019 at the Paul Spring retirement community in Alexandria, VA.

Born on September 8, 1938 in Cowansville, Quebec Canada, Evie grew up in a small, rural community as the eldest of 9 siblings. She graduated from McGill University in Quebec and pursued teaching as a career. After the birth of their daughter, Evie changed career paths and excelled as a financial services professional for the majority of her career, working for National Life Insurance Company in Montpelier VT and retiring from American Cyanamid in Wayne NJ and later retiring with Douglas to Florida.

A kind, loving and generous woman, Evie enjoyed the company of others and was quick with a smile. She always liked to keep busy and engaged in many craft related activities throughout her lifetime and there was not a Sudoku she did not like. She especially loved the time spent with family and friends, enjoying a good meal, laughing together and watching her beloved grandchildren grow.

Evie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Douglas, daughter Jill and son-in-law Joe of Alexandria, VA, grandchildren Erin of Radnor, PA and Joe of Arlington, VA, brothers Al, Stanley, Fred and sister Florence, along with many nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held next summer at Hillside Cemetery in Richford, VT.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on her behalf to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation at https://www.npcf.us.
