Florence T. Slivka

ENOSBURG FALLS - Florence T. Slivka, age 96, passed away Tuesday evening, September 29, 2015 at the St. Albans Health Care Facility in St. Albans.

She was born August 30, 1919 in Paterson, New Jersey the daughter of the late Jacob & Marziana (Matuschefsko) Gurlacz.

Florence was raised and spent most of her adult life in the Elmwood Park, New Jersey area where she worked at Marcal Paper Company for several years then retired from the Warner Woven Label Company after 30 plus years of service. She had been a member of the local senior citizens group in New Jersey. She enjoyed traveling with the group, especially the trips to Atlantic City. Florence moved to Vermont in 2002 to be closer to her son and became a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting Afghans.

She is survived by her son William Skol of Enosburg Falls; her grandchildren, Bill W. Skol and his wife Nerissa of Waddell, AZ, and Nicholas Skol and his wife Nina of Olympia, WA, and Joe Weglarz of Elmwood Park, NJ; her great grandchildren, Aaron, Gabriella and Tristan; her brother, Chester Gurlacz of Venice, FL; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by her husband, John Slivka; daughter, Judith Foley; daughter-in-law, Bik-Mui Skol; and siblings, John, Stanley, Paula & Eva.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 222 Missisquoi St., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held Monday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
