Florian Turcotte

RICHFORD - Florian J. Turcotte, age 87, passed away Saturday morning, January 9, 2010 at the Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls.
He was born in St. Zephirin de Courveil, Que. Canada on August 23, 1922 the son of the late Edouard & Jeannette (Proulx) Turcotte.
Florian moved to Vermont in 1949 when he purchased a farm in Montgomery Center. He then moved to Richford in 1958 where he purchased a farm that he operated until his retirement in 1970 when he sold his cows. He also worked for Sweat-Comings in Richford for a short time after moving to Richford. Following his retirement from farming, Florian operated Northland Dairy (now The Abbey) in Sheldon for several years. He was also a self-employed carpenter working mainly on his own apartment houses. Florian was a hard worker but always made time for his favorite hobby of working with race horses. Along with his wife, they enjoyed going to fairs throughout Vermont & Quebec.
He is survived by 4 sons, Cyrille Turcotte and his wife Brenda of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Michael Turcotte and his wife Gina of Tampa, FL, Paul Turcotte and his wife Ruthanne of Jackson,TN and Daniel Turcotte and his wife Debra of Richford; 5 daughters, Helene Turcotte and her friend Richard Baillargeon of St. Albans, Micheline Beauregard of San Diego, CA , Huguette Turcotte of San Diego, CA , Pauline Donaldson and her husband Peter of Sarnia, Ont. and Linda Lafontaine and her husband Dennis of Richford; 19 grandchildren, 16 great grand children; his siblings, Laval Turcotte and his wife Roseanne, Therese Jutras, Marie-Paul Jutras and Marie-France Janelle, all residing in Quebec. Besides his parents, Florian was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne DArc (Cote) Turcotte. They were married on July 5, 1945. He was also predeceased by 2 sons, Andre & Raymond Turcotte, a great grandson, Ian; and a brother Normand Turcotte.
No funeral services will be held at this time. A funeral Mass will be held at the convenience of the family.
