Fran Rivers

ENOSBURG FALLS – Frances A. Rivers, age 84, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at her home in Enosburg Falls.

She was born in Colchester on September 25, 1940 to the late Arthur & Audrey (Hart) Lumbra.

Fran was a bright spirit known for her color coordinated outfits and accessories, and abundant frog collection. She was a life-long resident of the area and attended Montgomery Elementary School, Enosburg Falls High School, and later pursued her education at the Community College of Vermont. Whether she was meticulously building dollhouses adorned with miniature furniture or capturing the beauty of nature through her oil paintings, Fran found solace in the simple pleasures of life. She also dedicated over 40 years of her life to styling hair at Spears Funeral Home, offering comfort and care to countless families during their times of loss.

She was a lover of nature and animals. Fran nurtured beautiful gardens and plants throughout her life. Her greatest joy came from collecting anything made to look like a frog, and her cherished Pomeranians, who were ever faithful friends beside her.

Fran is survived by her son, Thomas Rivers; her granddaughter, Shelby Rivers; and many friends and extended family members throughout the area. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur & Audrey Lumbra; and her husband, Richard “Pete” Rivers.

Friends & family are invited to Fran’s life celebration to include graveside funeral service on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Isidore Cemetery, Mountain Road, Montgomery Center, VT.
