Franklin - Fred A. Jenne, 73, a resident of Main Street in Franklin passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, with his family at his side, the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident in Franklin on Tuesday.
Fred was born on April 18, 1933 in Peterborough, NH the son of Walter and Helen (Wilson) Jenne. He was a graduate of Peterborough High School and Champlain College. A US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Fred was honorably discharged after serving from 1953 to 1956.
Fred had a 31 year career with the US Postal Service. In his earlier years he was employed by Swift & Co. as well as Driving taxi in Burlington and working for H & R Block. He was a longstanding member of the YMCA while he resided in Burlington. Fred loved to study the Bible and highlight passages. He attended the gym regularly and enjoyed eating out, movies, reading, politics, horseback riding, sports, puttering and tinkering and especially his family. His favorite pastime was mowing the lawn, often in the water and in the dark!
A mentor to many and an example to all, Fred was there for his children for their first time experiences. Affectionately known as Pua in the Franklin community, he bent over backwards to help anyone who asked and sometimes when they did not. He will be deeply missed by his entire family.
Fred is survived by 4 children: David Jenne and his wife Tammy of Burlington and their family Tiffany, Tabitha, Saundra, Crystal and David II; Michael Jenne of Colchester and his family Michael and Kevin; William Bill Jenne and his wife Bonnie of Burlington and their family Chris West and his wife Heather and their children Brianna and Christopher, Angela Menard and her children Jordan and Joshua Reil, Miranda Menard and her child Taylen Bennett, William Bill Jenne II,and Austin Jenne; Denna Benjamin and her husband Mike of Franklin and their family Joshua, Seth, Jenne, Mikayla and Jacob. Fred is also survived by his brother-in-law Will Cabana and his family as well as his extended family Joan Fiarkoski, Mike King, Ann King, Alan King , Wayne King and a special friend Bea Bookchin.
In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his wife Mona, a sister Kathy Cabana, a granddaughter Jamie Jenne and Doug King.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 2:00 PM at the East Franklin Union Church with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place later in the spring in the East Franklin Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls on Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
