EAST BERKSHIRE– Fredda M. Ploof, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
She was born in Richford on January 20, 1944, to the late Clifford and Theresa (Mayhew) Snider.
Fredda grew up in Richford and graduated from Richford High School. On July 11, 1964, Fredda married the love of her life, Edmond, and together they raised their four children.
Faith and family were the greatest gifts she cherished. She loved hosting family gatherings at home and especially at her camp on Lake Carmi. These events brought her so much joy. Her love for music which began at a young age touched so many people throughout her lifetime. She was the organist for 62 years at All Saints Catholic Church and also played at many other churches throughout Franklin County. She also had a special love for playing the accordion and shared that love every opportunity she had whether it was at a barn dance or for seniors living in nursing homes. Fredda had many interests including her hobbies of crocheting, knitting, quilting, sewing, cake decorating, vegetable and flower gardening, collecting snowmen figures and decorating her house for every special occasion. She looked forward to her social connections with the Green Mountains Ruby Reds and the Swans of New England Tours. She was an active member of the East Berkshire Fire District and was devoted to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and chaired many of its parish counsel meetings.
Over the years, Fredda was employed as a baker, seamstress and childcare provider but her greatest accomplishment was opening 118 Teddy Bear House Daycare where she loved nurturing the children in her care.
She is survived by her children, Laura and her husband R.C. Soule of East Berkshire, Cheryl Driver and her fiance Jason Beaulac of Alburg, Patrick Ploof of Richford, and Eric Ploof of East Berkshire; 6 grandchildren, Nathan Hale and his wife Kati, Jameson Hale and his wife Sally, Kristen Bovat and her husband Schyler, Adam Driver and his significant other Skyelour, Travis Driver, and Jonathon Driver and his significant other Sam; great grandchildren, Lewis, Kaylee, Perrin, Terrence Hale, Nashuah Bovat, and two more great-grand babies on the way; sister, Geraldine Seavey; brothers, Cedric Snider and his wife Theresa, Frederick Snider and his wife Christine, Larry Snider and his wife Jane, Felix Snider and his wife Valerie, and Philip Snider and his wife Therese; sister-in-law, Cynthia Ploof; brothers-in-law, Roger Ploof, Donald Ploof and his wife Janice, and Wayne Ploof; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
