MONTGOMERY CENTER - Gary W. Bouchard Pike, age 53, passed away Friday - February 27, 2015 as the result of a fire at his residence the English Rose Inn.
Gary was born April 28, 1961 in London, England the son of June Warner & William Pike.
At the age of 15, Gary moved with his family to the United States and when he turned 16 he started his culinary career working as a prep-cook and achieving advancements during his time at the Wichita Country Club in Wichita, Kansas. Throughout his career he trained with German & French chefs. He enjoyed competing in ice, Tellow Sculpting and other culinary events. He won many first and second place ribbons for his creations. He moved to Tampa, Florida in 1982 and worked at the Key Biscayne Resort as Head Chef for several years prior to starting work in 1987 at the Sheraton Hotel with 589 rooms in Orlando as a sous chef, where he met his future wife when she started working there in 1992. Gary & Mary Jane were married August 27, 1994 and made their home in Lake Helen, FL before returning to Mary Jane\u0027s home state of Vermont in 1999 when they purchased the former Eagle Lodge in Westfield/Montgomery Center. They spent the next 14 plus years renovating the Victorian inn named the English Rose Inn, accommodating skiers, hikers, cyclers, golfers, foliage seekers and travelers from around the world. Together they enjoyed serving their guests and treating them to fine dining at their restaurant in the Inn, Paddingtons.
Gary enjoyed traveling, building and navigating his RC planes and helicopters and antiquing. He especially loved to spend time and enjoyed the visits with his stepsons and brother.
Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Bouchard Pike of Montgomery Center; his stepsons, Christopher Adam Bombardier his wife Jennifer and their children, Branson & Ronan of Clover, SC, and Scott Louis Bombardier and his wife Diane of Palm Coast, FL; his mother, June Holloway and her husband Merlin of Arlington, TX; his father, William Pike and his wife Mary Maz of Ireland; his brother, Anthony Pike of Island of Crete, Greece; his in-laws, Adele Paquette of Swanton, Louis Bouchard Jr. and his wife Andy of Lunenburg, VT, and Suzie Bouchard of Montgomery Center; his nieces and nephews, Dustin Pike, Corey Paquette and his wife Tomika, Joseph Paquette, Laurie Elwood and her husband Travis, Chelsea Bouchard & Jason Bouchard; several great nieces, great nephews & cousins; his faithful companions, Cody, Torie, Raven & Chico. Gary was predeceased by his brother, Daniel Pike.
A memorial Mass will be held Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Isidores Catholic Church, 169 Mountain Road, Montgomery Center with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. There will be no visiting hours.
