East Berkshire - George Henry Roy, 56, a resident of the Berkshire Center Road in East Berkshire passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, December 13, 2008.
George was born on December 27, 1951 in St. Albans, the son of Maurice P. and Theresa (Belanger) Roy. He was a graduate of North Country Technical School in Newport.
George worked for his father, Maurice for many years as a carpenter and master electrician. He later was employed by several electrical firms in Chittenden County that contracted most of their work at IBM. For the past 10 years George had been self employed. He was a former member of the IBEW. George enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, drawing, woodworking, barbecuing and was especially willing to help his family.
George is survived by his mother Theresa Roy of St. Albans; his daughter Rita Mead and her husband E.J. of Georgia, VT; a sister Rachel Roy of East Berkshire; a brother Andre Roy and his wife Becky of Westford and their children, Anais, Patrick and Alexander. Georges father, Maurice, died on September 9, 1998.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church in East Berkshire with the Rev. Karl Hahr officiating. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburgh. Friends may call at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
