HIGHGATE - Gisele Regina Depatie, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and cherished member of her community passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 11, 1933, in Highgate Center, Vermont, to Narcisse and Leona Laroche.
Gisele attended and graduated from St. Anne’s Academy in 1951. She attended the Maryknoll Missionary convent in Ossining, New York. Gisele’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She taught religion classes and was a proud member of the Ladies of St. Anne, fostering a sense of community and compassion in all who knew her. Additionally, her musical talents shone through as she played the organ and sang in the church choir, bringing joy to worshippers.
Gisele was a devoted farmer’s wife who spent her life nurturing both her family and the land. She was known for her unwavering kindness, patience, and dedication to those she loved. Gisele's passions included knitting, sewing, quilting, and crocheting. Her hands crafted not only beautiful creations but also lifelong memories that her loved ones will cherish forever. She found joy working in her gardens and was particularly fond of the tradition of maple sugaring, where she would share laughter and stories with her family. Gisele is survived by her children Therese Snider and her husband Philip, Jean-Francois Depatie and his wife Catherine, Simon Depatie and his wife Jacqueline, Luc Depatie and his wife Edith, Joseph Depatie and his wife Christine, Thomas Depatie and his wife Donna, Jane Fryer and her husband Shawn; 20 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren; brothers, Andre Laroche and Paul Laroche. Gisele was predeceased by her parents, Narcisse and Leona, first husband, Leopold Depatie, second husband, Germain Bilodeau; brothers, Roger Laroche and wife, Jonah, and Henry Laroche and wife, Cecile; granddaughter, Elizabeth Depatie, and great great-granddaughter, Avonna; sister-in-law, MaeAnne Laroche.
Friends and family will be invited to Gisele’s life celebration events to include a visitation on Friday, February 28th, 2025 from 7-9:00PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT 05488. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Lamkin Street Highgate, VT.
