ENOSBURG FALLS - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Gladys (Boulais) Hill, age 97, at the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans, surrounded by her family on February 19, 2025. We will miss her greatly.
Gladys was born on June 2, 1927 to the late Charles & Doris (Messier) Boulais in Franklin, VT.
She graduated from Franklin High School. Gladys married Douglas H. Hill in 1945. They were married for over 50 years. She lived her whole married life in Enosburg. Gladys was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She belonged to the 500 card club for over 50 years! Gladys worked hard her whole life, with over 30 years at the Fruitland I.G.A. Grocery Store.
Gladys leaves behind her children, Darlene A. Worth of Williston, James A. Hill (Kathleen) of South Burlington, and Patricia Chagnon (Timothy) of Swanton. She also leaves 3 granddaughters, Leslie Read (Deke), Jennifer Parah (Troy), and Ashley Burghardt (Geoff) all of St. Albans. Gladys also leaves 6 great grandchildren, Caleb & Mason Read, Molly & Emma Parah, and Aiden & Katelyn Burghardt all of St. Albans. She leaves a brother, Charles Boulais of Ocala, FL; and niece & nephews from Virginia, Linda Riley, Michael Boulais, and Jeffrey Boulais and their families. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Hill; her son, Stephen D. Hill; her parents, Charles & Doris Boulais; sister-in-law, Jeanette Boulais; and nephew, Robert Boulais.
We want to thank the wonderful people who cared for our Mom at Franklin County Rehab Center. They were like family to us. Goodbye Mom, we love you. Till we meet again!
There will be no visiting hours. Friends & family are invited to her life celebration to include a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, Missisquoi Street, Enosburg Falls, VT. A luncheon will follow in St. John the Baptist parish hall. Interment will be held this spring in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg.
