ALBURGH - Goldie Mae Cadieux, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in the St. Joseph's Memory Care Unit at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford.
She was born in Alburgh on March 30, 1932 to the late George & Amelia (Duchaine) Blair.
Goldie married Norman Cadieux on October 19, 1950 in St. Amadeus Church in Alburgh. They were married for 46 years until Norman's passing on September 5, 1996. In her younger years, Goldie was a homemaker. She later worked for Kerbs Memorial Hospital and Northwestern Medical Center in the housekeeping department until her retirement in 1997.
In her golden years, Goldie enjoyed a shared companionship with her partner Jim Letourneau. They traveled to Florida for the cold winter months where she enjoyed spending time and playing cards with her two sisters, Georgette & Theresa, who also spent the winter in Florida. Goldie loved to play Bingo and take trips to the casino with Jim. After Jim's passing in September of 2023, Goldie resided at Our Lady of the Meadows where she received compassionate care until her passing.
She is survived by her children, Mark Cadieux and his wife Jeanette, and Rick Cadieux and his partner Shane; grandchildren, Christine (Sean) Cassidy, Tom (Destiny) Cadieux, Cody (Brittany) Cadieux, Todd (Holley) Cadieux, and Sarah (Tom) Jump; 15 great grandchildren; her sister, Theresa Aylward; brother-in-law, John Cadieux; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Goldie was predeceased by her husband, Norman Cadieux; son, Gary Cadieux; sister, Georgette Aylward and her husband Stanley, brothers and sisters in-law, Arthur Aylward, Maurice (Lorraine) Cadieux, Bernard (Betty) Cadieux, Armand (Joanne) Cadieux, Wanda Cadieux, Jeannette (Walter) Duchaine, Pauline (Howard) Sterns, and Aurore (Pete) Vosburgh; and her partner, Jim Letourneau.
Goldie's family would like to thank the staff from Northwestern Medical Center, including the nurses and patient safety sitters, Our Lady of the Meadows St. Joseph's Memory Care Unit, and VNA Hospice for the loving care provided to her over the past year.
Friends & family are invited to Goldie's life celebration on Saturday, February 15, 2025 to include visitation from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM at St. Amadeus Catholic Church, 75 North Main Street, Alburgh, VT. Interment will be held in St. Amadeus Cemetery in Alburgh.
