ENOSBURGH - Gordon R. Thompson, age 78, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his home in Enosburgh with his family by his side.
He was born December 19, 1934 in Franklin the youngest of seven children of the late Justin & Lillian (Reynolds) Thompson.
Gordon spent most of his life in Enosburgh and worked as a farmer, logger and horse trader. He had a special love for draft horses and loved to work with his horses in the woods cutting logs and firewood. Gordons hobbies included going to horse pulls, fishing and going for rides around Franklin County.
He is survived by his children, Jimmy Thompson and his wife Sherry, Ricky Thompson and Lucius Thompson and his significant other Laurie Vachon all of Enosburgh; step-children, Dorcas McAllister and her husband Carroll of Richford, William Jeff Gilpin and his significant other Barbara of Jeffersonville and Matthew Gilpin Sr. and his wife Robin of Enosburgh; his grandchildren, Justin Thompson, Sonya Thompson and her significant other Josh, Ella Thompson, Adrianne McAllister and Adam, Bobbi, Matt Jr., Jessie, Kimmy & Jasmine Gilpin, and Karrie Hall; great grandchildren, Garrett Snider, Elena Gilpin, Peyton Goss, and Sophie Hall; a brother, William Thompson and his wife Lorraine of Swanton; a sister, Anna White of Enosburgh; special friend, Betty Billows of Enosburg Falls and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his wife, Rita (Davis) Thompson; his siblings and their spouses, James & Marion Thompson, Pauline Thompson, Eunice & Calvin Hance, Florence & Edward Hakey and Bertha Jacobs; and his brother-in-law, Robert White.
In keeping with Gordons wishes, a graveside memorial service to be held this spring in the Richford Center Cemetery will be announced at a later date. There will be no visiting hours.
