Greta Barcomb

ISLE LA MOTTE- Greta J. Barcomb, age 88, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born in Isle La Motte on December 29, 1934 to the late Joseph and Eleanor (Langlois) Patnode.

Greta spent some of her younger years in Isle La Motte until moving to Essex with her sister. She also spent time living in New York and Connecticut. Greta worked at several manufacturing companies in the areas she was living in until deciding to start her own cleaning services business. She married Ralph Barcomb on May 26, 1973, and the pair eventually made their way back to her hometown of Isle La Motte. In their youth the two enjoyed dancing with friends on Saturday nights, and attending many country western concerts, as they grew older they enjoyed going for rides, shopping, and going out to eat. Greta was a talented crafter and loved selling her variety of creations at local craft shows, and playing BINGO! She was a straight shooter with a heart of gold and was not afraid to tell it like it was-a trait many say she inherited from her mother.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Barcomb of Isle La Motte; daughter, Marlene; step-daughters, Brenda, and Lisa; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Greta was predeceased by her siblings, Winton Patnode, Virginia Forgay, Winifred LaBlanc, and Averal "Pat" Audet.

In keeping with Greta's wishes, there will be no services.
