Gretchen Kittell

January 14, 1946 — July 21, 2011

BERSKHIRE - Gretchen Kittell, age 65, passed away Thursday July 21, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born January 14, 1946 in St. Albans the daughter of the late George & Bessie (Longe) Wetherby.

Gretchen was a life-long resident of the Berkshire area. She held many jobs including, Northland Hockey Stick Factory, IBM, Beas Diner, Berkshire Pub, Somerset Inn, Wetherbys Quick Stop, and Saints Quick Stop.

Gretchen enjoyed playing BINGO, gambling (scratch tickets and trips to Atlantic City) and traveling. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Blaine Kittell of Berkshire. Gretchen & Blaine were together for 40 years. She is also survived by her children, Lori Sturgeon and her husband Alan of Bakersfield, Jeff Dixon and his wife Cherryl of Enosburg, Jerry Dixon of St. Albans, Guy Kittell and his wife Lisa of Harpswell, ME, Shawn Dixon and his wife Myrinda of San Diego, CA, Andrew Kittell and his fianc Jenn Ploof of Fletcher, and Philip Kittell and his companion Casey Combs of Berkshire; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; her sister, Anita Friot of Berkshire; her brother, John Wetherby of Richford; many nieces and nephews; and a faithful companion Stubby. Besides her parents, Gretchen was predeceased by her brothers, Gardner, Glenford, Clifton, and Jack Wetherby.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hill West Cemetery in Montgomery.

Visiting hours will be held Monday from 5-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
