Harold W Green

ENOSBURG FALLS - Harold W. Green, age 94, of Enosburg Falls passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Franklin County Health & Rehab Facility in St. Albans with his loving family by his side.

Born July 16, 1918 in Bakersfield, the son of the late Guy and Ella (Houghton) Green.

Harold spent his early years on the family farm in West Enosburg. He attended school in West Enosburg and following that spent many years delivering lumber and ice around the area. He was probably best known for his 13 years as a school bus driver and his more than 30 years as a bulk truck driver for McDermotts Milk Transport of Enosburg.


He enjoyed ice fishing and bowling and bowled on a league in Jeffersonville for many years. Harold also loved going on long rides with his family, something they did most every Sunday afternoon and he had a strong affection for Mount Mansfield and loved taking his family there for picnics in the mountains. Maple Sugaring season found Harold in his early years helping with tapping, boiling and everything in between and in his later years visiting as many sugar houses as he could. He also spent many hours sharing stories of the early 1920s 30s and beyond and loved to tell everyone about the Flood of 27 .

Harold was a member of the Grange in West Enosburg for many years and attended church at the United Methodist Churches of West Enosburg and Enosburg Falls. On February 1st, 1958 he married his loving wife of 54 years Joyce Perry.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Green of Enosburg; his 3 daughters, Kathy and her husband Rev. Tim Stetson of Enosburg, Susie and her husband Kermit Drown of Highgate and Linda Green of Enosburg; his 4 grandchildren, Heather Grant and her husband Nathan, David Stetson and his wife Christina, Stephanie Menard and her husband Tim and Daniel Stetson and his wife Kristieanna; 3 loving great-grandchildren, Conner, Buddy and Julieanna; several nieces and nephews; 2 sisters, Bernice DAmbrosio and Ethel Anderson and one sister-in-law, Gladys Rodriquez. Besides his parents, Harold was predeceased by his brother Oakley and 2 brother-in-laws Ralph and Jim.

The family would like to thank Franklin County Health & Rehab and their staff for the great care they provided for Harold!

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the West Enosburg United Methodist Church, 1725 Tyler Branch Rd., Enosburg. Interment will follow in the West Enosburg Cemetery, VT Rt. 108, Enosburg.

A time of visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the funeral.
