Marjorie Helen (Eldred) Smith, 92, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Sept.
5, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Born, Oct. 7, 1917, to Frederick
Henry and Lena May (Davis) Eldred in Enosburg, VT.
Predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Myrtle Eola Titemore and Gyneth May Saulters, and her husband, Cloyd Merton Smith, Helen is survived by her son, Bruce (Mary Walter) Alan Smith of Cortland, NY, her step-son, David (Lorraine) Walter Smith of Carmel, NY, and many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Helen, having degrees from Enosburg Falls High School (1934), Johnson Normal School (1936), Castleton Teachers College (1960), SUNY Cortland
(1963) and Syracuse University (1973), was an educator for 45 years, teaching elementary grades in Franklin, Sheldon Springs, Monkton, and Addison in VT and in the Campus School in Cortland, NY and teaching / supervising student teachers for the State University of New York at Cortland.
There will be a brief memorial service at 2:00 pm Saturday, Sept. 11th at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT preceding the interment in the Enosburgh Center cemetery.
