Herman Hansen, Jr. of Alburgh passed away at the St. Albans Health and Rehabilitation Center on January 4, 2017 with his family by his side.
Herman was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on December 3, 1928, the son of Herman Hansen, Sr. and Marie Christansen. Herman received an honorable discharge after serving in the United States Army from 1946-1948. On August 9, 1951 he was married to the former Rosella Hutchins, who survives him.
He was one of the founding members of Alburgh Fire Department and also belonged to Columbus Lodge #11 F&AM. He was a Master Plumber and a Master Electrician. He was self-employed as a farmer for many years after which he was employed by the local telephone company until retirement in 1991. He was affiliated with many organizations. Herman and Rose enjoyed spending winters at their home in Florida.
He leaves his wife Rosella of 65+ years; his brother, Hans (Andrew) Hansen; his three sons, Herman (Chris) and Pam, Theodore Hansen and Lynn and Thomas and Lynne; grandchildren Crystal, Darcie, Alyson, Jenna and Johnathan and four great grandchildren. His parents, sister-in-law, Ann, and niece, Lucille, predeceased him.
In keeping with Hermans wishes there will be no public calling hours. There will be a private time of remembrance at the convenience of the family.
