Herschel Donna

RICHFORD - Herschel Wallace Donna, age 91, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015, at his home with his family at his side.

He was born in Richford on August 20, 1923 the son of the late Wallace & Hildred (Comings) Donna.

Herschel was a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Berkshire & Richford. He devoted his career to dairy farming and maple syrup producing. Following his retirement from farming he drove school bus and worked as the custodian for the Berkshire Elementary School. He was active in community affairs serving as Selectman and Justice of the Peace for the Town of Berkshire and served on the Berkshire Center Cemetery Association. He was also a longtime member of the Richford United Methodist Church. Herschel and Mary loved to travel having visited Alaska, Germany, Ireland, the Canadian Rockies via train and many trips to Branson, MO.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Fletcher) Donna of Richford. Herschel & Mary were married on October 4, 1947. He is also survived by his children and their families, Penny & Luther Johnson of Wilder, and their daughter Joanna Johnson, Mick & Connie Donna of Fairfield, OH, and their children, Jeremy & Julie Donna, and Diana & Charles Butkus of Clarksville, TN, and their children, Merry Hinson her husband Roger and her children, Adrian, Morrighan & Maeve, Charles Butkus & Kathleen Butkus; his brother, Rayburn Donna and his wife Shirley of Richford; his sister, Athalie Whitt and her husband John of Enosburg Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Jon Bly officiating. Interment followed in the Berkshire Center Cemetery.

Visiting hours were held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7PM
