RICHFORD - Hollis A. King, age 81, passed away at his home on July 29, 2009 with his family at his side.
He was born November 6, 1927 in St. Armand, Quebec Canada, the son of the late Adolphus A. & Lorena (Fecteau) King.
Hollis was a resident of Richford most of his life. He worked as a carpenter and a construction worker until disability forced him to retire at the age of 45. He was a member of the Eagles Club of Jeffersonville and attended the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved his music, playing in the bands, Smokey and the Mountaineers & the Green Mountain Troubadours which played at various functions and nursing homes in the area. Most of all he was a devoted and loving husband & father making sure his family came first.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene (Domingue) King of Richford. They were married September 8, 1951. He is also survived by his children, Helen Hoose of So. Burlington, Maggie Monty and her husband Robert of Hinesburg, Barbara Embury and her husband Glenn of Berkshire, Peter King and his friend Patty of Lincoln, NB, Lori Sampietro and her husband Keith of Montgomery, Dale King of Richford, Holly Ryea and her husband George of Richford; former daughter-in-law, Alice LaFrance of Georgia; his grandchildren, Angel Siple and her husband Troy, April Winegar and her husband Chris, Amber Rock and her husband Rodney, Travis Broe, Kami Broe and her friend Nate Marshall, Sarah Jewett and her husband SSGT Randy Jewett, Patrick Curtis, Myron Embury, Jessie Ryea, Jerica Broe, Samantha King, Trever Ryea, and Austin King; many great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; his sisters, Phyllis Waterhouse of Franklin; Betty King, and Mary Goddard both of Richford; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Bobby & Marcia Gross, Al Stanley, Raymond Monty, Wilfred & Eunice Root, Larry & Jane Snyder, and Max Taylor & Arlene Whitehead. Besides his parents Hollis was predeceased by a son-in-law, Mathias Hoose.
A memorial service will be held Sunday August 2, 2009 at 3:00 PM at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 878 Horseshoe Rd., East Berkshire with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating.
