Following his honorable discharge he went to work on his fathers farm which he eventually bought and farmed for many years. After Buzzy sold the cows he ran the existing dump on the farm and began in earnest to develop the gravel pit that is still being operated by his son, Hank.

He also loved and collected old tractors and on his 60th birthday the boys got all four running the oldest being a 1927 John Deere. He was interested in coin collecting as well as collecting clocks until he ran out of wall space for them. He experienced his long awaited trip of a lifetime to Alaska and loved every one of the more than 10 thousand miles traveled. In 1975 he built his Cabin in the woods using trees from the spot where he developed the pond which was where the old railroad spring was that was also the original Enosburg Village water supply.
