COWANSVILLE, QUEBEC - Irene LaFountain, age 92, passed away Saturday morning March 8, 2008 at the Centre dAcceuil de Cowansville.
She was born April 1, 1915 in Dunham, Quebec the daughter of the late Joseph & Laura (Jubert) Piette.
Irene was a resident of Stanbridge Est, Quebec for 34 years prior to residing at Centre dAcceuil de Cowansville for the last 3 years. She was also a former resident of Enosburg Falls, VT , Highgate, VT and Georgia, VT. Her employments included jobs at Masse Vanier High School in Cowansville, Martins Laundry in St. Albans, VT. After earning her nurses license she worked at Ishams Nursing Home in St. Albans for several years. She also became employed at Northland Hockey Stick Factory.
Irene enjoyed to Dance and spent many hours on the dance floor at the Moose Lodge in St. Albans, and the Legion in Cowansville. Her family was very important to her and in her later years she enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Day of Stanbridge Est, Que., Ed Day and his fiance Roberta Perry of Swanton, VT; daughter, Menetta LeClaire of Plattsburgh, NY; 10 grandchildren, sister, Yvonne Beaucage of Bedford, Que.; sister-in-laws Laura Piette of Cowansville, Que. and Marjorie Piette of Bedford Que; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Francis LaFountain on May 8, 2000. They were married December 24, 1951. Also, 3 grandsons, Oben Day, Thomas Day, and William Gowette; 2 brothers, Arthur Piette, and Edward Piette; Brother-in-law, Jed LaFountain; sister-in-law, Mable Davis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday March 13, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT with Rev. Rich ODonnell officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Albans, VT.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the hour of the funeral.
