James Smith

WEST BERKSHIRE - James C. Jim Smith, age 88, passed away Tuesday February 6, 2007 at his home in West Berkshire.
\tHe was born March 27, 1918 in Kingston, Ontario Canada the son of the late Sam & Sarah (Walker) Smith.\t
\tJames was a devoted husband, father & grandfather. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during WWII. Prior to 1969 he was a resident of New York City and spent many years as a New York City Policeman. In1969 he and his wife Marjorie Ann Joy Smith who were married in 1958 moved to Vermont where he pursued a second career as a teacher at Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. He taught machine shop, small motors and electricity and his students appreciated him greatly.
James will be missed very much by family and friends. His caring, intelligent quick wit, and determined spirit touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Evelyn & Charles Thor of Floral Park, NY, and Holly & Laurent Gosselin of Frelighsburgh, Que.; seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his 1st wife, Rose (Ferelli) Smith in 1957; his 2nd wife, Marjorie Ann Joy Smith on November 25, 2005; and his brother Allen Smith.
\tA time of visitation and sharing will be held Friday February 9, 2007 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. A graveside service will immediately follow at the West Berkshire Cemetery.
