Jean Menard

HIGHGATE - Jean Menard passed away from a courageous battle with blood cancer, on June 15, 2024, at the age of 87.

Jean lived through some of the world's most significant events, including World War II in the United Kingdom (UK). She often spoke of the bombing attacks and how she, as a young girl, was evacuated (parentless) to the countryside to the home of complete strangers. It was something she never forgot. She was known to always have an interesting story to tell, especially to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was one of five children raised in the UK by her two loving parents, Edith and Joseph, who predeceased her. Jean met and married her husband, Richard Menard, while he was stationed in the Air Force in the UK. Together they raised their family. First, in the UK and eventually, in Vermont. As a stay-at-home mother, she was generous, loving, and kind. Jean thoroughly enjoyed dancing and music. She loved being with family and friends. "We are glad knowing that you are with God, angels, family, and friends. Goodbye to a loving wife, mother, nana, and friend."

Jean is survived by her husband Richard, their seven children Michael Menard, Debbie Spears & husband Shawn, Kellie Belisle & husband Michael, Ricky Menard, Richard Menard Jr. & wife Leah, Gary Menard & wife Rena, and Pamela Martin & husband Scott; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; sister Barbara; and all the many people who loved her. She was predeceased by her siblings Derek & wife Valerie, Pamela & husband Billy, and Ann; father and mother in-law Maurice and Hilda Menard; in-laws, Bobby, Carol, Gary, Wayne (Jerry) and Jeanne.

Friends & family are invited to Jean's life celebration on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT to include visitation from 1-3:00 PM followed with a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Swanton.
