EAST FAIRFIELD - Jerry Kardasz, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the St. Albans Health & Rehab facility.
He was born March 8, 1929 in Borslaw, Ukraine to the late Nicholas & Anna Kardasz.
At the age of 15 Jerry was taken from his home in Ukraine and brought to work in the camps in Germany. At the age of 18 he came to the United States, became a citizen and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the military he worked in the construction field as a dry wall installer. Jerry married Caroline Healy in 1971 and they made their home in East Fairfield. His favorite hobby was gardening.
He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Young and her husband Jason of Enosburgh; his son, Ihor W. Kardasz and his wife Debra of Stroudsburg, PA; a step-daughter, Carolann Decker and her husband Tom of Virginia Beach, VA and a step-son, Joey Toth of Joliet, IL; several grandchildren, Courtney Kardasz-Church, Jerron Reynolds, Kaleb St. Cyr and Cayden & Jake Young. Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Caroline (Healy) Kardasz in 2002.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Fr. William Giroux officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery in Fairfield.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service.
