ENOSBURG FALLS - Jerry L. Messier, age 94, passed away Friday evening September 26, 2008 at the Redstone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans.
He was born December 27, 1913 in Farnham, Quebec Canada the son of the late Henri & Florence (Beauchemien) Messier.
Jerry came to Franklin, Vermont in 1925 and married Alicia L. Chailfoux on September 18, 1933 and from this marriage they had two sons, Maurice & James and settled on the Emma Towle farm in 1938 which he eventually purchased in 1946. Jerry was a farmer most of his life but he also worked for E.W. Bailey Feed Co. and was janitor at the Enosburg Falls High School. He retired from farming in 1968. During his retirement he filled his time doing carpentry work. He loved bowling, deer hunting, and working at the BINGO games at St. John the Baptist Parish Hall.
He is survived by his son, Maurice Messier and his wife Mary Jane of Sheldon and Maurices children Larry Messier his wife Quiong and Lisa Czado her husband Eric and their children, Marin & Loralei; his son, James Messier of Milton and his children, Tammy Judd and her children Kelly and Kellys son Isiah, Megan & Nicole; Julie Brigante her husband David and their children, Justin, Alec & Maggie; Steve Messier his wife Kathleen and their children, Spencer, Elizabeth & Hailey; Scott Messier his wife Kim and Scotts children Jonathan, Steven & Emily; and Michelle Messier; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Jerry was predeceased by his wife Alicia Messier; great grandson, Jimmy Messier; daughters-in-law, Geraldine Messier and Linda Messier; brothers, Henry, George and Lionel Messier; sisters, Ellen Rheaume and Rose Belisle.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 1, 2008 at 11:00 Am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with Rev. Daniel Jordan celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery in Franklin.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
