John Bara

January 18, 1970 — January 25, 2025

John Allen Bara, beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend died after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 55 on January 25, 2025. He was born in Burlington, VT to Elene Bara (Milliken) and the late John R. Bara on January 18, 1970.


John graduated from Burlington High School in 1988, and soon after started work for Perry's Machine Shop. He then worked for Burton Snowboards and RTAT. In 2011, John studied at Champlain College enrolling in Web Design, and Computer Programming, earning a GPA of 3.959. After many years of working for others, John started his own Business, KARVTEK, and in 2019 WCAX featured his business on, Made in Vermont.


John liked to say he was a "Jack of all trades, Master of Some". The reality was he had the passion and knowledge of many interests. Whether it was his dedication to his business, working on his land and home that he built from the ground up, or his martial arts (Combat Budo); he always had the drive and determination to succeed. John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was grateful for what the land provided him. Every moment of John's life was rich and unique, just like him.


John is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Tammi Provencher Bara and her family and their friends. His mother, Elene Bara (Milliken), sisters Lisa Haskins (Bara), Denise Ackel (Bara) and her husband Randall Ackel. He is also forever cherished and remembered by his nephews, Christopher (Jessica) Haskins, Nathaniel (Charlene) Ackel, and Nicholas Ackel. His great niece, Brianna Rosa, and great nephews, Alexander Ackel, and Ethan Haskins.


John is also survived by his three aunts, Barbara Bara, Suzanne Dubuque, and Josephine Sweetser. He was predeceased by his father, John R. Bara, uncles, Tom Bara, Donald Dubuque, Raymond Sweetser, and Clifford and Colleen Roberts. He also leaves behind several cousins and many many friends.


A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
