ESSEX JCT. - John David Duso, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at the VNA Respite House in Colchester.
John was born on September 30, 1937 in East Berkshire, VT the son of the late Walter & Marion (Leahy) Duso.
John graduated from Richford High School in 1955. He worked for Coca Cola, Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co, and retired from IBM in 1999. After retirement, he worked at Sears part-time for many years.
John loved all sports, especially NASCAR, golf, the New York Yankees and any team that would beat the Red Sox. For many years, he attended all UVM basketball and hockey games. He was able to travel around and attend many NASCAR races. For his 70th birthday he rode in a race car on the Charlotte, NC Speedway.
John was a past member of the Enosburg Falls Country Club and the Williston Golf Course. He was Past President and member for over 50 years of the Eagles Club, Aerie #793. John and his wife Perri also had a camp on Lake Carmi for 20 years.
Besides his wife, Perri (Parent), John leaves two daughters, Dorothy (Robert) Gilbar of Enosburg, and Sheila (Shannon) Cavanaugh of Colchester; four grandchildren, Kristin (Jesse) Elwood of Enosburg, Katelyn (Jamason) Weld of Berkshire, James Cavanaugh and friend Erika Lemieux of Colchester, and Holly Gilbar and fianc Josh Armstrong of Tallahassee, FL; six great grandchildren, Kolby, Tyler, Hayden & Jaelyn Elwood, Deacon & Kamryn Weld; One sister, Carol (Myrl) Jaquith of Port St. Joe, FL; and many nieces & nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Robert Duso and wife Beverly; and sister, Sandra Duso.
Johns family would like to thank all of the Shep 4 nurses at the University of Vermont Medical Center for the extraordinary care they gave John during his many stays at the hospital.
A memorial service will be Friday, April 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the All Saints Cemetery in Richford.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the funeral.
