ST. ALBANS TOWN – John L. Snider, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at his home in St. Albans with his wife by his side.
He was born in St. Albans on March 10, 1967 to Cedric & Theresa (Ploof) Snider.
John graduated from Richford High School in 1985. He married Cynthia (Caron) on September 15, 2018. John hauled fuel for R.L. Vallee for over 20 years. He was devoted to everyone he knew and loved. John loved to travel and spend quality time with his family. Some of John’s best memories were working on his tractor alongside his Dad and riding his mountain bike through the woods coming home with lots of scrapes and bruises. John was known for offering great advice to anyone who needed a little direction and for always being more than happy to help fix something. He was always the happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends, especially a recent trip to the gulf shores of Alabama with his entire family. He even got to experience swimming with the sharks with his grandson, Brayden. John was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2610 of Richford, All Saints Church in Richford, and Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Albans.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia of St. Albans; children, Matthew Swann and his partner Trista Shappy of Swanton, Mary Ellen Hutchins and her husband Landon of North Hero, and Mitchell Swann and his wife Hannah of Linn, Missouri; grandchildren, Alexis Swann, Chloe and Brayden Hutchins, and Benjamin, Nicholas, Jacob, Natalie and baby girl Swann; his parents, Cedric and Theresa Snider; siblings, Michael Snider and his wife Tracy, Mark Snider and his wife Viola, Brenda Snider and her partner Brent Lumbra, Kimberly Dubie and her husband Richard, and Alicia Larose and her husband Daniel; nephews, Justin Snider and his fiancée Brianna, Timothy Snider, Gregory Sweet and his partner Kari, Owen Snider, Wade Snider and his girlfriend Amanda, Kyle Holt, Alan Dubie, Wyatt and Jack Larose; special niece, Melanie Dubie and her fiancé Josh; and great nephews, Fletcher and Trenton Sweet; very special friends, Frank and Anne Lagrow, Mike and Mary Viens, and Dean and Nancy Morrone. John was predeceased by his godparents, Fredda and Edmond Ploof; uncles, Richard and Phillip Ploof, cousin, Jeffrey Ploof and his beloved German Sheperds, Max and Pike.
Family and friends are invited to John’s Life Celebration event to include visitation on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave, Enosburg Falls, VT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the All Saints Catholic Church, Richford, VT. Interment will immediately follow in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery, VT Route 105, Richford.
