Joseph F. Bulriss, age 96, passed on Aug. 21, 2023, in St. Albans, Vt.
He was born June 20, 1927, to the late Alfred and Delia (Manor) Bulriss in Rouses Point, N.Y., where he spent the early years of his life. Upon graduation in 1944 from Rouses Point High School he enlisted in the Merchant Marines followed by his enlistment in the U.S. Army and served with the occupation forces in Japan. He was a proud veteran and a member of Post 912 Rouses Point American Legion and a Life Member of the Elks Club of Plattsburgh, N.Y. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia St. Johns, who preceded him in death.
Once discharged from the Army, he joined the A.N. Derringer Customs House Brokers in Rouses Point/Champlain, N.Y. When he retired, Joseph and Patricia moved to Florida. After Patricia died in 2004, he moved to Henderson, Nev., and eventually to Swanton, Vt. Joseph was an avid golfer and scored multiple holes in one. He considered himself a professional slot machine gambler scoring many large wins while residing in Nevada.
He is survived by their three children, Scott (Leslie) Bulriss, Melody (Lynn) Fetterly and Tracy (Sandra) Bulriss, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be interned with the love of his life, Patricia, in Florida where a private service will be held for family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
