Joyce Elaine Koss, age 82 years, a resident of Isle La Motte since 1969 and formerly from New Britain, Connecticut died late Monday evening, July 24, 2017, at The Holiday House Residential Care Home with loving family at her side.
Born in New Britain, Connecticut on, August 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Perley Theodore and Judith Ellen (Larson) Stitham. She graduated from New Britain High School and was married to Norman C. Koss, Jr. who predeceased her on July 4, 1992.
Joyce will especially be remembered as owning and operating Carsons Market in Isle La Motte for many years. She was a member of the Franklin County Quilt Guild, the Alburgh American Legion Creller-Landon Post # 60 Auxiliary and for 25 years a member of the Morrisville VFW Post # 9653 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son John Koss and his wife Candice of Sarasota, Florida; two daughters, Elaine Petegrow and husband Robert and Cynthia Bennett and husband Roger all of Isle La Motte; a brother Norman Stitham and wife Marilyn of Connecticut two sister-in-law, Lillian Stitham of Connecticut and Ida Mae Stitham of New York. She also leaves grandchildren, Michael Bennett, Kyle Koss and Casandra Koss and great grandchildren, Isabel Bennett, Aubrey Bennett and Oliver Koss as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate. Private Interment for immediate family members will follow at the Isle La Motte Village Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Holiday House for their compassionate care.
