EAST BERKSHIRE - Joyce Marcy, age 81, widow of Ethan Marcy, passed away Tuesday morning December 30, 2008 at the Franklin County Rehab Facility in St. Albans.
Joyce was born December 22, 1927 in Enosburgh the daughter of the late Frank & Ila (Greenia) Longley.
Joyce was a lifelong resident of Enosburgh and Berkshire. She farmed along with her husband Ethan until his passing in1971 at which time she continued to farm until 1974 when she sold the farm. She then held various jobs from a hot lunch cook and janitor at Enosburg Falls High School, cooked and cleaned at the Dairy Center and finally delivering newspapers for the St. Albans Messenger from East Sheldon to Montgomery retiring in 1995.
She was considered Mom to all. She enjoyed word search puzzles, playing solitaire, her birds, watching deer from her back window, going to lawn sales and watching Survivor. Most of all she loved her family and the time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by 3 sons and their wives, Russell & Betty Marcy of Richford, Donny & Linda Marcy of Richford, David & Caroline Marcy of So. Richford; 3 daughters and their husbands, Evelyn & Wayne Jewett of Enosburg Falls, Barbara & Pete Dezotelle of Johnson, and Sally & Yves Brunelle of East Berkshire; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Eldora Longley of Windsor, Bernice Longley of Johnson, Beatrice Longe and her husband William of Berkshire, and Gladys Dolan and her husband Robert of Williamstown; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Joyce was predeceased by her brothers, Clarence, Thayer, Raymond, Merl, Leonard, and Cedric & Charles Longley; her sisters, Blanche Malone, Beatrice Malone, Hildred Greenwood, & Eunice Messier.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 6-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
