Jean Mayo

August 16, 1930 — June 17, 2024

ENOSBURG FALLS - K. Jean Mayo, known fondly as "Aunt Jean," entered this world on August 16, 1930, in Bakersfield, VT. She was born to the late Percy & Pearl (Tillotson) Patch. Jean was a vibrant soul who touched the lives of many with her warmth and charm. On June 17, 2024, she peacefully passed away, at the age of 93, following a life well-lived.

Jean married the love of her life, Harvey Mayo on November 21, 1953. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Jean's greatest joy in life was her family. Her friendly and engaging nature made her a beloved figure in the community, easily striking up conversations with everyone she met, a trait that served her well as a cashier at Grand Union. Whether it was sharing a laugh or lending a listening ear, Jean had a way of making people feel heard and valued.

A woman of deep faith, Jean found solace in her regular visits to local churches, finding strength and peace in her spirituality. She had a knack for storytelling and always had the latest news and gossip to share, making her a captivating storyteller. In her free time, Jean enjoyed going for leisurely rides and had a special fondness for children, brightening their days with her infectious laughter and genuine care. She was a proud member of the Red Hats, American Legion Post #42 Auxiliary, and the St. Albans Senior Center. Jean and Harvey always looked forward to their McDonald's coffee group each morning. She enjoyed her community at the Hawk's Nest in St. Albans, and would always look forward to dancing when Ed Morgan came to play Satin Sheets.

She is survived by her son, Ricky Mayo and his partner Linda Shangraw of St. Albans; one grandson, Harvey Mayo and his wife Kayla; great grandson, Harrison Mayo; siblings-in-law, Harmon Mayo and his wife Janet, Suzanne Richard, and Brenda Colburn; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Mayo; her siblings, Philip Patch, Waneta Gates, and Myrtle McDermott; and brothers-in-law, Charles Colburn, and Albert Richard.

Friends & family are invited to Jean's life celebration to include a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT.
