WINOOSKI – Keith “Taz” Frances Roberts of Winooski passed away unexpectedly at the University of Vermont Medical Center at the age of 71 with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the 8th child of the late Venita (Dulude) and Arthur Roberts.
Taz absolutely loved ice fishing, auto racing, playing cribbage, the beach, being a sun worshipper and being the "crazy uncle". He loved to be the life of the party. He had an infectious/mischievous grin. You could count on him to tell lots of jokes or to just raz you!
As a child, he was very close to his eldest sister, who preceded him in death at the age of 16. He and one of his sisters were the same age for a month every year and he would make sure to raz her every year about that fact.
Taz served briefly in the US Army. He followed in his father’s footsteps as an accomplished carpenter.
He fought a valiant battle earlier in his life with addiction. He and his family were very proud of the fact that he had been sober since 1991. In fact he met the love of his life, Nancy Gallup during recovery.
Taz was loved by many and never met a stranger. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
The family would like to thank UVMMC-especially the ICU unit, Elderwood staff, Gretchen, his SASH nurse, the dialysis staff, his East Spring Street friends and all those who assisted him in any way during his recent illnesses.
Per Taz's wishes there will be no formal services or calling hours. The family will hold a remembrance ceremony in his honor at a later date.
For those who wish, contributions in his name may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous.
Goodbyes are not forever,
Goodbyes are not the end,
they simply mean we'll miss you
until we meet again.
