Lee Walker

July 8, 1988 — May 4, 2007

BAKERSFIELD - Lee Andrew Walker, age 18, passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 4, 2007, as the result of a boating accident.
\tLee was born in Burlington, VT on July 8, 1988, the son of Renee Rita (Gratton) Walker and David Louis Walker.
\tLee had completed his first year at Paul Smith College in New York, majoring in urban tree management. He was a 2006 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School where excelled in the Forestry Program at Cold Hollow Career Center. Lee was a great athlete, and received many athletic awards in soccer, and game logging. Lee enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, forestry competitions, and tree climbing. He never shied from hard work, and loved logging and maple sugaring. Lee was a fantastic cook, and could make something delicious out of anything he could find. Lee adored babies and children, which led him to his work as a camp counselor at Camp Holy Cross in Colchester for five years. Lee loved country music, and always rounded up his friends to attend the country music festival which usually occurred on his birthday. One of his favorite songs was Ive Been Watching You by Rodney Atkins.
\tLee lived his short life to the fullest. He never failed to put others before himself. When he truly believed in something or someone, he never gave up and always gave them 110 percent. Lee strove to be a great example for his step brother, Duncan. Lee was extremely proud of being a Redneck, and you could see that just be looking at his truck. To paraphrase Lees dearest friend Joleen Curtis, which fits for everyone he has left behind, Lee will be sorely missed, and we will love him for all the days of our lives .
\tHe is survived by his parents, Renee Huether and her husband Ken of Bakersfield, his father, David Walker, Sr. of Bakersfield, his brother, David Walker Jr. of Bakersfield, his sister, Ashley Walker attending SUNY Plattsburgh, his step brother, Duncan Huether of Jericho & Bakersfield, his paternal grandparents, Joan & Richard Walker of Swanton, his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Gratton of Burlington, and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. He is also survived by his one true love, Joleen Curtis and her dear family of Bakersfield, whom Lee cared for very much. Lee was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Gratton.
\tA celebration of Lees life will take place at the Enosburg Falls High School Gymnasium Saturday May 12, 2007 at noon. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield.
\tVisiting hours will be held Thursday from 5-8 PM and Friday from 5-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
\tFor those who wish, contributions in Lees memory may be made to the Lee Walker Scholarship Fund, Attention Guidance Dept., P.O. Box 417, Enosburg Falls, VT 05450. This scholarship will be awarded to students that will pursue a career in forestry.
