ENOSBURGH - Lora J. Monty, age 91, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Enosburgh.
She was born August 4, 1923 in St. Albans to the late Harold & Mable (Rich) Perry.
Lora graduated from Franklin High School in 1942. She married Maurice Monty in 1943 and together raised their family on the family farm in Enosburgh. Lora loved all animals, but especially cats and dogs. She enjoyed cooking for her family and going to auctions. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting and crocheting, reading, gardening and dowsing. Lora also loved spending time with her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne Granger and her husband Allen of East Calais and Philip Monty and his wife Barbara of Enosburgh; a daughter-in-law, Judy Monty of Bakersfield; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Granger and his wife Joyce of Waynesboro, PA, Polly Rico and her husband Dan of Enosburgh, Emma Hardy and her husband Ben of Enosburgh, Nathan Monty of St. Albans, Heather Monty of East Fairfield and Mark & Katy Monty of Bakersfield; 6 great grandchildren, Natalie & Jillian Hardy, Dahlia & Lora Rico and Haylee & Elizabeth Monty; a sister, Mary Perry of Burlington; a special niece and caregiver, Louise Byam and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Lora was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Monty; her children, David and Luke Monty and Weston Turner.
In keeping with Loras wishes, services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in St. Georges Catholic Cemetery in Bakersfield. There will be no visiting hours.
