RICHFORD - Lora (Howard) Whitney, age 49, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Gulfside Regional Hospice in Zephyrhills, FL with her family at her side.
Lora was born in Burlington on January 29, 1966 the daughter of Duane & Elaine (Reginbal) Howard.
Lora grew up in Enosburgh on the farm of her uncle & aunt, Ronnie & Marie Howard and was a 1984 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. While raising her children she operated a day care from her home and sold vegetables from her roadside stand. Lora then worked as a cook at Ave Maria Community Care Home, Richford Elementary School and most recently at Richford High School. She also worked for NOTCH in Richford cooking for the Summer Day Camp Program and cleaning at the NOTCH facilities.
Lora will be remembered as a hard worker who loved to cook, a very caring person who always put everyone else first and most of all as a loving mother. When she wasnt working or spending time with her children and family, she enjoyed going kayaking and traveling with Monica as well as doing crafts and working in her gardens
She is survived by her children, Adam Whitney of Richford and his girlfriend Eve Hayes, and Nicole Whitney of Richford and her boyfriend John Nolan; her parents and their spouses, Elaine & John Pecor of Highgate and Duane & Betty Howard of Westford; her siblings, Scott Howard and his wife Sally of Highgate, Windy Minor of Alburgh, Stacey Howard of Milton, and John Morits of Highgate; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; the father of her children, Francis Whitney of Richford; her former mother-in-law, Barbara Whitney of Richford; and her former sisters & brother in-law, Judy Jacobs, Linda Whitney, Barbara Jean Whitney, Jackie Larivee, John Nutting & Jill Comes.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Richford First Baptist Church, 30 School Street, Richford. Interment will follow in the Richford Center Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls
