Lorraine E. Chevalier, age 84 years, died suddenly Monday evening, January 23, 2017, at her Lakewood Drive residence with her son Eric at her side.
Born in Alburgh on, November 10, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Mary (Belair) Martell. She attended Alburgh schools and graduated from Johnson State Teachers College. Lorraine was a teacher and principal at the former Alburgh High School. In addition, Lorraine and her husband owned and operated Chevaliers Real Estate and Insurance Company for many years. Lorraine loved her home, her pets and gardening.
On August 14, 1959, she was married to Maurice Banjo Chevalier who predeceased her on October 27, 2001.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Diane Chevalier of S. Alburgh; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Andrew Jones of Wichita, TX; two sisters, Gladys Rocheleau of St. Albans and Gloria Martell of Georgia; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was predeceased by her siblings, Allen Martell, Karl Martell and Madeline Doyle.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with The Reverend Kerry T. Cameron officiating. Interment will follow at the Chevalier family lot in St. Amadeus Cemetery Alburgh.
At Lorraines request, there will be no public calling hours.
