RICHFORD - Lorraine A. Lagasse, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.
She was born in Marblehead, MA on March 26, 1946, the daughter of the late Albert and Evelyn (Mayhew) Claveau.
Lorraine grew up in several parts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She married Richard Lagasse on August 24, 1970 and they raised their family in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Florida, and eventually settled in Richford, VT. Lorraine worked at the All Childrens Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL as a pediatric aid, and as an EMT-D for Montgomery, Richford and Lamoille County for many years. She enjoyed attending yearly Mayhew family reunions, cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was known for her famous Kahlua cakes, and making her house a home. Lorraine never took a moment for herself, and she strived to make everyone around her feel welcomed and loved.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Lagasse of Richford; her children, Robert Letendre and his wife Betty of Williston, FL, Melissa Heaton of Williston, FL, David Letendre and his wife Nicole of Richford, Timothy Lagasse and his wife Kelly of Montgomery; Stephanie Stanhope and her husband Jason of Montgomery; Jason Lagasse of Richford; and Shaun Lagasse and his wife Diana of Richford; 17 grandchildren, Matthew, Cheyenne, Hunter, Patrick, Mandy, Tabitha, Alexis, Ethan, Samuel, Jonas, Leah, Isaias, Gabriel, Shane, Emily, Blake, and Keegan; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Diane, Linda, Lawrence, and Alice; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her son, Christopher; and siblings, Lucien, Joanne, and Robert.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 4-7:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Avenue, Enosburg Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, Main St., Richford. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
