Lynwood "Chick" West

RICHFORD - Lynwood Chick West, age 81, passed away peacefully Sunday evening October 16, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born March 17, 1930 in Montgomery Center the son of the late Charles & Alberta (Sheltra) West.

Chick lived in Richford for most of his life and worked over 40 years at Blue Seal in Richford, retiring in 1992. He was a Veteran of Foreign wars, serving in the Korean war, and a member of VFW Post #11319 and American Legion Post #12. Chick was a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus - St. Anthonys council #2610 in Richford, he served as the Grand Knight, District Deputy, and most recently the Financial Secretary. He was an active member of the community volunteering to assist with Bingo, Special Olympics, driving for meals on wheels and bringing veterans down to the VA hospital in White River Jct., he also served on the All Saints Catholic Cemetery board.

Chick was predeceased by his loving wife Rose West, who passed away July 19, 2011. He is survived by their children, Marie (Hemond) Tremblay and husband Gilbert of Swanton, Edward R. Bud Hemond and wife Vickie of Swanton, Paul Hemond and wife Judy of Richford, Rita (Hemond) Howard of Swanton, Darlene (West) Gregoire and husband Mark of Richford, and Angela (West) Paquette and husband Ronnie of Richford, and Richard West and wife Kristi of Swanton; 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother, Ronald West of Richford; 2 sisters, Beverly Little of Toronto, ONT, and Doris Farrar of Plymouth, CT; sisters-in-law, Shirley Smith of Syracuse, NY, Clara Demers of Deland, FL, Kathleen Smith of St. Albans; 2 brothers-in-law, Carmen Mayhew of Richford and Raymond Hunter of Bristol, CT; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Simone & Robert Frechette of Georgia, Theresa & Wellington Towle of St. Albans, Sister Cecile Smith RHSJ of Winooski, Annette & Frank Montagne of St. Albans Bay, and Maria & Donald Ploof of Mansfield, MA; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Chick was predeceased by his sisters, Shirley Tremblay, Lorraine Delaire, Norma Mayhew & Juanita Hunter; his brother, Charles West; sister-in-law, Betty West and Jane Mayhew; brothers-in-law, Harland Mayhew, Lee Delaire, Raymond Farrar, Dona Tremblay, Merle Little, Gerard, Raymond, Armand & Lawrence Smith; and mother & father-in-law, Ferdinand & Mary Louise (Larose) Smith;

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 152 Main St., Richford with Rev. Karl Hahr celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Richford.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
