SHELDON (RICE HILL) - M. Elizabeth Sturgeon, age 94, passed away Sunday morning November 7, 2010 at the St. Albans Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans with her family at her side.
She was born in Fairfield on September 26, 1916 the daughter of the late Louis & Helen (Forant) Revoir.
Elizabeth was raised in Enosburg Falls attending the Enosburgh Center School. She married Robert Emmett Sturgeon on November 15, 1941 and devoted her life to raising her family. She was a communicant of St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Sheldon Springs and a member of the Ladies of Ste. Annes Society. She was also a member of the St. Albans Senior Center. When her children were growing up she was involved with the 4-H club on Rice Hill. She enjoyed gardening, bowling and playing cards especially 500.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn Barney of Swanton and Gary Sturgeon and his wife Theresa of East Highgate; her grandchildren, Kevin Barney of Fairfax, Karen Barney Nye of Milton, Chantal Sturgeon-Goodrum and her husband Cabot of Colchester, and Patrick Sturgeon and his wife Jessica of Hinesburg; her sister Connie Rock of Shelburne and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Sturgeon on June 9, 1978; her son-in-law, Kermit Barney; her sisters, Marion Revoir, Anna Stanley, Mildred Rivard & Lena Benoit; her brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Francis & Richard Revoir.
Elizabeths family would like to thank the administration and staff at the St. Albans Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center where Elizabeth has resided for the past six and a half years for the untiring service and dedication provided to her.
The Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, 117 Shawville Rd., Sheldon Springs. Interment will follow in St. Anthonys Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening from 6-9 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
