ENOSBURG FALLS - Madeline C. Pelkey, age 63, passed away Sunday morning, January 24, 2010 at the St. Albans Health Care & Rehab Facility.
She was born June 9, 1946 in St. Albans the daughter of the late Actus & Florence (Lafontaine) Fields.
Madeline was a 1964 graduate of Franklin High School and a 1965 graduate of the Fanny Allen School of Nursing. She worked for many years as a L.P.N. in area nursing homes and Doctors offices. She also worked for the Franklin County Home Health Agency.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Preston her husband Justin and their children, Tabitha & Orin of Swanton; and Scott Pelkey his wife Michelle and their children Daniel & Katie of Sheldon Springs; her extended family, Gene & Denise Savoy and their children, Becky, Chris, Lauren & Caleb of Maine; a special cousin, Carolyn Kay Lafontaine of Richford; brother-in-law, Daniel Pelkey of Bakersfield; special nieces, Shirley Wells of Westbrook, ME and Peggy Reed of Everett, MA; and special friends, Darlene & Richard Cooper of Franklin. Besides her parents, Madeline was predeceased by her husband, Howard Butch Pelkey; and a sister, Bernice Colomb.
In keeping with Madelines wishes she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Rev. Bernard Bechard officiating. Interment will be this spring in St. Marys Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
Madelines family wishes to thank the Franklin County Home Health Agency for the care she received while staying at home. A special thanks to Carol, Emma & Diane for going above and beyond. Also, many thanks to the staff at St. Albans Health Care & Rehab where Madeline had resided over the past year.
