Manley Wetherbee

July 26, 1924 — June 21, 2007

Enosburg Falls - Manley Potter Wetherbee, age 82 passed away Thursday morning June 21, 2007 at his home with his loving family at his side.

He was born July 26, 1924 in Belvidere, the son of the late William A and Hazel (Potter) Wetherbee.

On December 29, 1946 he married Marian Carpenter. They celebrated 60 years together in December 2006.

Manley leaves a daughter Ann and her husband Rick Green of Enosburg Falls and their children Amy and her husband Chad Eldridge of Swanton. Tina Larivee and her fianc Josuha Bell of Temple Terrace, Florida and Brian Green of Enosburg Falls. Great grandchildren, Sydni Anair and Garrett Eldridge

Three sons: William (Bill) of Colchester and his children Michael of Detroit, Michigan and Katie of Biddeford, Maine and their mother, Martha of Essex Junction.

Robert (Bob) and his wife Dianna of Winter Haven, FL and their children Calista and Emilie of St Petersburg, Florida; Amanda and her husband Pete Schiebel of Winter Haven, Florida.

Gary of Montgomery and his step son Ryan Leadbeater of Bozeman, Montana and his mother Doreen Greene of Berkshire

Merwyn and his wife Joyce of Colchester, VT

Special brothers and sisters-in-law; Carty and Alyda Carpenter and Roy and Linda Carpenter both of Enosburg Falls and George and Doris Carpenter of Lyman, S Carolina.

Many loved nieces and nephews

Manley graduated from the former Underhill High School in 1942 with his four classmates. During the war years he ran the Wright Farms in Underhill. He and Marian purchased their own dairy farm in East Berkshire while she was teaching 8 grades in a one-room school house. In 1956 they moved to Enosburg Falls where he owned and operated Wetherbee & Leach Farm Supply. He and Marian purchased Shover & Sons and the H P Jones Store and established Wetherbee\u0027s Hardware. In 1973 they sold the business to their son Bob, and Manley continued to work in "semi retirement".

Manley was a member of Lincoln Lodge #78 and recently received his 60 year pin. He was also a member of the Enosburg Lions Club for over 50 years, and served as King Lion. For his dedication and service, he received the Melvin Jones Award, which is the highest honor given to a Lions Club member. He loved Dairy Day, participating in it from its first year. He would leave his booth covered with cotton candy to help Bill and family make sure BBQ chicken were ready on time. During the winter he was very active in the Winter Haven Lions Club. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Enosburg Falls.

Dad loved being around his family and proud of all they were doing. Pontoon boat rides on Lake Carmi, helping with BBQ\u0027s and catering events, putting freight away at ACE Hardware and going to grandchildrens soccer games. He loved to visit with people, and you were not a stranger for long. He and Mother spent winters in Winter Haven, Florida and summers in their home in Enosburg Falls and at their camp on Lake Carmi in Franklin.

Funeral services will be held Sunday June 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the West Enosburg Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday from 5-8 PM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
