ENOSBURG FALLS / BAKERSFIELD - Marguerite A. Johnson, age 95, passed away Wednesday morning, December 23, 2009 at the Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls where she had been a resident since 2000. Marguerites family is very grateful for the loving care given to Marguerite during her time spent at the Brownway Residence.
She was born in Enosburg Falls on November 28, 1914 the daughter of the late Will O. & Gertrude (Hayes) Johnson.
Marguerite was a 1933 graduate of Brigham Academy in Bakersfield and a 1935 graduate of Johnson Normal School. She was a school teacher at the Bakersfield Common School and served a few years as Principal at the Bakersfield Elementary School retiring in 1977 after 40 years of educating in Bakersfield.
She was a member of the Vermont Retired Teachers Association, Enosburg Falls Senior Citizen Club, Enosburgh Historical Society. She was a former member of 4-H, and the Vermont Grange. She had served as the organist for the Bakersfield United Methodist Church and the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church where she was also a member.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing the piano, going to church functions and senior citizen trips, and working in her flower gardens.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Sandra Johnson of Bangor, ME, Marsha (Johnson) Rohman and her husband Ted of Waterville, ME, Brent Johnson of Hartland, VT, and Craig Johnson and his wife Katie of Brandon, VT; several great nieces & nephews, 2 great great nephews & several cousins including special cousins, Eileen Richard of Wolfboro, NH, Edwin Holm of Londonderry, NH, and Jane Macomber of Brethren, MI. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Francis Johnson, Arland Merrill Johnson and his wife Genevieve, and Gerald Johnson and his wife Henrietta.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church on Church St. with Rev. Jon Bly officiating. Interment will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield at the convenience of the family.
A time of visitation will be held at the Enosburg Falls United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the funeral.
