ENOSBURG FALLS - Marie A. Marshia, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Franklin County Rehab facility in St. Albans.
She was born in Rockland, Maine on March 15, 1935 to the late John & Bertha (Brazier) Robishaw.
Marie was a proud Army veteran who served her country with honor. It was during her service that she met and fell in love with Henry Marshia. Following her military service, Marie pursued her passion for reading and education, earning a Bachelor's degree from Johnson State College. For many years, she imparted knowledge and wisdom as a dedicated teacher at both Montgomery Village and Enosburg Falls schools, leaving an indelible mark on the countless young minds she nurtured.
Outside of her professional life, Marie had a keen eye for treasure, often seen traversing New England in search of unique finds at antique sales. She found joy in various hobbies, be it playing cards, indulging in cribbage games, taking trips to the casino, or capturing the beauty of landscapes through painting. She was very proud to have been a member of the American Legion Post #42 for over 50 years. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless, and she relished in spoiling them with affection and creating lasting memories at Lake Eden during camping trips.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, James Marshia and his wife Sheila of Montgomery, Karen Leahy and her husband Hugh of Bellingham, MA, and Sally Libby and her husband Gary of Winslow, ME; her grandchildren, Mikayla Marshia, Lauren Marshia and her fiancé Dylan Hurtubise, Jacob Marshia, Katelyn Leahy Barb and her husband Joshua, Rebecca Fico, Mackenzie Tynan and her husband Brian, Hillary Libby and her fiancé Zackery Blye, and Jenna Libby; two great grandchildren, Everett & Eleanor Hurtubise and baby Blye on the way; her sister, Margaret Guptill; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband, Henry Marshia; her sister, Frances Gamage; sister-in-law, Joyce Baker and her husband Eddie; and a brother-in-law, Bill Guptill.
