BERKSHIRE - Marion F. Fortin - Murphy, age 76, passed away Friday morning April 18, 2008 at the Red Stone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans with her loving family at her side.
She was born January 8, 1932 in Fletcher the daughter of the late Willis & Nora (Reynolds) Smith.
Marion worked for many years at the Enosburg Falls Elementary School and High School in the Hot Lunch Program. Following her retirement from the schools she was employed for several years at Franklin County Home Health Agency in their home care program.
Marion enjoyed reading and in the spring of the year she looked forward to working in her gardens and being outdoors. Most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Edgar Murphy of Berkshire; her children and their spouses, Shirley & Ivan Elwood of Franklin, Phyllis & Thomas Smith of Endicott, NY, Linda & Bert Honaker of West Enosburg, Laurie & Spencer Elwood of West Enosburg, and Daniel & Patricia Lynn Fortin of Ellenburg Center, NY; her grandchildren and their families, Stacey White her husband Steve and their children Dylan & Makayla, Heather Vaillancourt her husband Joey and their children Hunter & Hailey, Justin Elwood, Jessica Halofsky and her husband Joshua, Aaron Smith, Scott Howard, Hannah Honaker, Wayne Honaker, Beth Elwood, Nathan Elwood, Bryant Fortin, and Tyler Fortin; her step children, Terry Poirier and her husband James of Montgomery, and Richard Murphy and his wife Melody of Lake Hurst, NJ; several step grandchildren; her sisters, Carolyn Williams of St. Albans, Eleanor Maynard of Cambridge, and Shirley Maynard and her husband Leon of Bakersfield; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Philippe Fortin on August 4, 1987.
A memorial service will be held Monday April 21, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Enosburg Falls. There will be no visiting hours.
